About Go2Telescope
A comparison-first telescope site built around one question: which of these two is better for what I actually want to observe or photograph?
Why the site exists
Most telescope advice answers a question nobody asked — "which telescope is best?" — when the useful question is always narrower. A telescope that is outstanding for photographing large nebulae can be close to useless for photographing small galaxies, and physically incapable of visual observing.
So every score, verdict and comparison here is written against a stated purpose, and the answer is allowed to change when the purpose does. Where the honest answer is "neither of these", we say that instead of picking a winner.
What is here today
- 14 telescopes, each with a full specification record and four purpose scores.
- 5 hand-written comparisons, each answering all four purposes separately.
- Purpose, type and buying guides covering the concepts that decide most purchases.
- A comparison builder that works with any pair in the catalogue.
How it is built
Specifications live in one file per telescope and are reused everywhere — a product page, a comparison, a buying guide and a filter all read the same numbers. Scores come from a deterministic function documented in full on themethodology page, and every score on the site expands to show its factors and weights.
Pages are generated as static HTML at build time. JavaScript enhances the selectors, the filters and the purpose switcher, and every editorial page remains complete and readable without it.
What this site deliberately does not do
- Claim hands-on testing. We have not tested these telescopes. Nothing here says otherwise.
- Publish prices, ratings or review counts. We have no price feed and no reviewer panel, so we publish neither — including in our structured data.
- Generate every possible pairing as a page. Thin auto-generated pages help nobody. Non-curated pairs get a labelled specification comparison that is not indexed.
- Hide limitations to protect a click. Several products here carry warnings prominent enough to talk a visitor out of buying them.

Who is behind it
Authorship is not yet configured. Real named authorship, reviewer identities and organisation details have not been set up on this site. Until they are, we do not publish author bylines, reviewer credits or organisation structured data, because inventing them would undermine everything else on this page.
